The Rape Walk scheduled to occur today in Abuja has been cancelled due to SSS involvement. The SSS has warned that due to the threats from Boko Haram they do not advice that people gather in large groups. The question though is why cancel the walk and deny people their basic rights? Why not instead offer them protection as they stand for what they believe in?
Protesters have been warned that if they do embark on the walk they will be charged with "counter -Terrorism" Activities.
This is a shame and the reason people are so reluctant to speak out in Nigeria. Why should I be arrested for reaching out to the government to protect me?
Let us rally with our Nigerian brothers and sisters and continue to wish them the best and also find ways to continue to provide support for them
