Bring In-N-Out to UC Berkeley!

      Berkeley, United States

Clarification: We are for In-N-Out in Lower Sproul or nearby to campus.

In-N-Out is, as many students would agree, a staple of West coast foods, as it is a family-owned business that started in California. As we are the University of California, many students have grown up with In-N-Out over the years and would consider it the best burger you could have in California. It is for this reason that it has spread to many places and opened up locations anywhere from beside busy interstate freeways to just across the street from other UC campuses.

In 2008, Panda Express expressed interest in having a commercial space in Lower Sproul's food court, to the protest of many students for various reasons. A petition was created with over 500 signatures, which was enough to oust Panda Express's plans. With that same Berkeley spirit, we fight to bring our favorite burger establishment to the Berkeley campus, so that not only can fans of the business enjoy it, but so that they may invite their friends from out of state or abroad to taste one of America's greatest burgers.

The nearest In-N-Out to Berkeley as things are now is a 20 minute drive away. This is highly inconvenient for students, as many students don't have a car, and also don't have the time to be spending traveling that far for food. Having a food establishment like In-N-Out will also help the Berkeley community, as many students will be able to have jobs at the restaurant. As it is known to be a sit-down restaurant, it will also bring students together, through conversation or through student club fundraisers.

Today we bring over 1000 signatures of support for this petition, and hope that the ASUC Commercial and Student Services Board along with those in charge of the Lower Sproul Redevelopment Project would consider bringing In-N-Out onboard as a vendor, and if not requesting their presence in the Berkeley area.

In case you haven't heard, a fake In-N-Out banner was posted outside the former Adidas store on Telegraph. It may not be real, but it has only helped our cause, as now the petition is also featured on California Golden Blogs, Reddit/r/Berkeley, Bear Insider, and more, and people have been calling in to tell In-N-Out about it. Continue to spread the word about this petition, get more people to sign it, momentum is certainly building!

In-N-Out in Berkeley a hoax: Will there ever be an In-N-Out in Berkeley?

Don't get your hopes up. UPDATE: We're removing the question mark from the title. Sorry peeps. Confirmed: In-N-Out rep confirms that the Telegraph banner is not theirs and they have no current plans to open a store in Berkeley. - GoldenBlogs (@GoldenBlogs) April 28, 2014 It started with a photo that gave hope to a hungry people.

Are In-N-Out and Krispy Kreme really coming to Lower Sproul?

College Life Are In-N-Out and Krispy Kreme really coming to Lower Sproul? Huh. Why In-N-Out and Krispy Kreme? Has this ever even happened? Has this ever been tried on our campus before?

    9. Yay, 222 signatures!

Let's keep it going! We need the world to know that people actually do like these food options and anybody should have the freedom to eat whatever type of food they want when they want.

Side Note: I think we can declare partial victory in places like Pieology opening up. There's a similar goal: chain restaurants that people actually enjoy should not be barred from setting up shop near the Berkeley campus, and it's just one more victory closer to bringing great places like In-N-Out and Krispy Kreme to campus.
