Allow my well-mannered golden retriever to stay in 1350 Barkley Court

    1. Petition by

      Briana Nyheim

My 12 year old golden retriever, Willie, is a well-mannered dog that never barks and is one of the nicest dogs someone will ever meet. In fact, he hasn't barked in ten years. In March 2012, my roommates and I called the BSHA explaining how good of a dog Willie is and they said it was okay for him to stay in 1350 Barkley Court even though he is over thirty pounds and is in violation of Article IX, Section 2 of the Declaration of Covenants. Within the first hour of moving in on August 5, 2012, the BSHA said that we had to get rid of Willie or they would take my landlord to court even though they cleared it, however they do not remember this. One of my roommates and I are going to school to become veterinarians, I grew up on a farm, and I am a responsible dog breeder/trainer back home. Therefore, my roommates and I know how to take care of this well mannered dog. Please help me in supporting my petition to allow my well mannered dog to stay in 1350 Barkley Court.

Have some humanity! This pup is harmless, old, and just adorable! Don't be the cause of his euthanization. Have a heart.

I don't know how this happened but it sounds like they said what they needed to get the unit rented. Of course, once it is rented and the new tenant moves in, it appears they no longer honor their word. If this is the case, it is DISGRACEFUL!

Willie looks like he weighs about 30 pounds to me. So 30 is ok....but 31 isn't???

I support reasonable covenants by associations, but this one makes no sense. Assuming you have either a fenced in yard that you agree to keep well-maintained, or the dog stays inside and you walk it. The only real issue should be if it disturbs the neighbors peace, or if it leads to a degradation of the appearance and value of your property. In the absence of either, the size should not matter.
