Boycott the Opening of Retail Stores on Thanksgiving Day

Boycott Thanksgiving Day Shopping

    1. Petition by

      Umar Choudhry

To: The CEOs of Retail Stores

As consumers we are protesting the opening of retail stores on Thanksgiving Day that are taking advantage of working class indviduals due to the poor US economy.

Retail workers should not be forced into working on Thanksgiving Day as a way to increase retail sales percentages for the year. It is becoming an unfair practice that is getting out of hand.  National holidays should be respected and observed for all those who reside in the United States of America.

By signing this petition We the People are indicating to you that we will not support this practice through  Boycotting the Opening of Retail Stores on Thanksgiving Day.

We the undersigned support the working class and their right to enjoy a National Holiday.

Do we really need to shop on Thanksgiving day? I can see why you might be interesting in shopping in some cases however if you shop someone has to work so they can be open. I like capitalism it's part of what makes the USA great but the stores need to stop this.

people need to be with their families on a holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas, let them enjoy the love and togetherness of a great American Tradition

Pushing sales on people and forcing employees to work on a holiday is just plain shameful. If retailers would just have advertised sales and doorbusters we might not have to act like animals rushing into stores and trampoling people to get at the bargains. We are being manipulated into thinking we have to go out on Black Friday and now Thanksgiving eve or we will most certainly pay more. It's time to say enough is enough!

People should be home with their families and celebrating what is important, each other. There are plenty of other days in the year in the year to shop.

This is not right. What happened to our American holidays? Other countries observe their national holidays why not the US? I understand essential employees like airlines and such but retail?
