This is a historic building built in 1910. The local miners paid every week out of their wages to raise enough monies for this building to be built. It has an unusual feature of sky lights in the roof over the operating theatre. The then King & Queen also opened the matternity unit in the 1920's. This hospital served our community before the NHS even existed. Please do not allow the demolition, as it was built out of hard earned money to serve our community, so please enable this building to carry on serving our community

I have lived in New York for many years but I was born in this hospital, had my first stitches in the emergency room, spent several weeks in quarantine there because I had glandular fever and walked down from Brynmawr with my mum to visit many relatives who were ill and being taken care of there. Please preserve this wonderful piece of history and its stories. I now live in a country that does not have this kind of rich history to be passed on through the generations . We should preserve and value it for the wonderful piece of history that it represents.
