I need all of my friends to sign this petition. I pray that these centers will be for the use of our kids and the community. We have worked too hard over the past year making needed repairs to the facility and established meaningful systemic violence intervention programs for the youth to just let it be snatched away from us. We were told that there are some powers that be who are fighting against us. They want these properties for other purposes. These properties were vacant for three and a half years no one had any interest in them until I start using them for our children. Children had to break into the center just to come off the unsafe streets to shoot basketball. Now they have been acclimated back into having a community center that they can enjoy again. The community at large are getting back involved with the community center. We offer a host of community programs including arts and crafts for seniors and youth. We offer pool table, hockey pool and ping pong play for entertainment. Our activity rooms are made available for baby showers, parties, banquets, renewing of wedding vows, meetings, repasts and etc. Our gymnasium is made available for churches, non profits, and the public for camps, and sports leagues. We are all about the community. We bring together a host of churches, non and for profit groups businesses and public entities for the betterment of the community. We like for your group to join us. Together we can achieve the best for our children. Let us make our voices heard today.
Bishop Roosevelt Crawford (writing above)
Our mission is to provide community based programs for young people, counseling, mentorship, sports, teaching life skills, and violence intervention. This is much needed in the community! The daily mentorship and sports help keep many youth off the streets. We also provide space for many other community based outreach programs whom we partner with. If this this petition is not successful the consensus is TEAR DOWN these centers and repurpose the land for personal and professional gain. We want to keep them running for people of all ages but especially our youth. HELP US BY SIGNING THIS PETITION! (There is also a written petition for those who may not have internet access at Bellingrath and with some of our volunteer staff).
