An Eye for an Eye and the Whole World will be Blind. (1st written on 01/07/14 – revised text, letter and news updates)

BBC – British Establishment-Serving Media in the eyes of many, me included – loves to tell us how balanced and meticulous it is. But for those willing to seek out facts and statistics - not made readily available on BBC - the favourable bias afforded to the Israeli government and military is astounding and sickening.

The recent killings of three Israeli children that no one with a TV or radio could have missed are horrific, whoever is proven to be responsible. In any sane and fair news provider they should prompt an honest and balanced look at the history of killings on both sides, the causes, and a concerted effort to highlight any paths available to bring lasting peace.

Instead the BBC stands once again firmly on the side of Israeli militarism, which is promising (UPDATED now in fact carrying out with over 80 Palestinians already killed 10/07/14; 214 on 17/07/14, over 500 Palestinians killed and 15 Israelis on 21/07/14, over 1900 Palestinians killed and 67 Israelis on 9/8/14) bloody collective retribution.

The BBC has carefully failed to highlight the herd of elephants in the newsroom: over 1,500 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli attacks since 2000, 1 Palestinian child killed every 3 days, yet Israel with BBC support still places itself in the role of the unique victim in BBC and mainstream reporting! http://www.middleeastmonitor.com/news/middle-east/6185-one-palestinian-child-has-been-killed-by-israel-every-3-days-for-the-past-13-years

22 children's lives, of 81 civilians' lives, have so far been obliterated in the Israeli bomb and missile collective death sentence unleashed on the desperately poor and densely populated Gaza strip starting on 09/07/14. Yet for most of this time this hasn't reached the 'Main Stories' - at one point below football news - just Palestinians being killed relegating it to 'Other stories'.

NEVER have any of the 1,500 Palestinian children killed since 2000 - OR THE WHOLE NUMBER OF THEM TOGETHER - ever made headlines and received such extended in-depth personalised coverage as these 3 Israeli children have. The unique schedule-bending for the 3 Israeli killings has truly been like the special treatment reserved for British royals marrying or being buried. E.g.: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-28112696 No bombed-to-pieces Palestinian children have been deemed worthy of such honours.

If they had, if every one of those 1,500 and fast rising murdered Palestinian children had appeared on our screens with personal photos and emotional family members, friends and political representatives the way these 3 special Israeli children have, PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF THE WHOLE PALESTINE-ISRAEL SITUATION WOULD HAVE CHANGED COMPLETELY and demands for a truly fair negotiated solution and the end of the siege of Gaza, would have replaced the misleading influence of the current one-sided hawkish Israel-leaning BBC narrative.

Even Palestinian children ACTUALLY FILMED BEING SHOT DEAD BY ISRAELI BORDER GUARDS recently (see links below) by a nearby shop's CCTV camera merited only a very quiet and doubtful half-nod from the corporation, causing a miniscule quickly forgotten ripple in its output (see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-27488135). Certainly nothing compared to the major news event on TV, radio and web the 3 abductions-killings-funerals - with no such video evidence - have merited. This is misinformation on an epic scale!

And the unreported-on-by-BBC Israeli response to video evidence of their soldiers shooting unarmed children? - Dismantle the camera! http://electronicintifada.net/blogs/charlotte-silver/israel-orders-dismantling-camera-captured-murder-palestinian-boys

What's more, the BBC is in no way criticising the collective mass death sentence promised by Israel (now being enacted) to inflict on Palestinians once again, but rather describes all Israeli attacks and future planned attacks as ‘defensive’ and 'responses', and gives far more air-time and a much freer reign to Israeli representatives to justify their actions. (e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-28102253)

As witnessed previously: operation ‘Cast Lead’ (Dec 2008-Jan 2009) involved a massive air and land assault by Israel's cutting edge, and the world's 4th largest military, on Gaza – one of the world's most densely populated and most impoverished zones on earth, kept under an illegal and sadistic siege by Israel. (http://antiwar.com/blog/2013/11/22/israels-siege-of-gaza-is-sadistic-and-illegal-yet-us-support-continues/).

So densely populated that any missile or bomb is almost certain to kill civilians – and with no hi tech defence systems or even air-raid shelters to find safety The 3-week attack, including the illegal use of White Phosphorous which keeps burning through the skin to the bone, as witnessed by Human Rights Watch (http://www.hrw.org/video/2009/03/25/rain-fire-white-phosphorus-gaza), resulted in an estimated 1,417 Palestinians killed and 14 Israelis killed. A difference, unsurprising when the true picture is seen by looking outside the BBC, of over 100 to 1.

In November 2012 another Israeli military assault named "Pillar of 'Defence'" (the Israeli government is good at using the words ‘defence’ and ‘protection’) killed 102 civilians, including 30 children; 4 Israeli civilians were killed.

Did these gigantic differences in casualties and in weaponry register clearly in BBC coverage? On the contrary! Then as now the clearly closely Israeli-linked BBC marked out Palestinians as aggressors and Israelis as acting purely in 'self-defence' and 'in response', despite the huge and obvious differences in military might and the numbers killed.

This so-called 'public-service' broadcaster which continues to wave through almost unquestioned the dismantling and passing to private wealthy hands of great swathes of the UK's public services, in favour of focussing on UKIP, has been pinpointed for pro-Israeli bias for many many years (it even recently had to admit using a staunch pro-Israeli as a 'neutral' pundit - http://www.spinwatch.org/index.php/blog/item/5620-bbc-finally-admits-bias-over-pro-israel-commentator).

As licence-payers we expect as a bare minimum that the numbers killed (children, civilians generally and fighters) be reported accurately in a balanced manner to avoid one-sided misinformation. The BBC has undoubtedly been highly deceitful and misleading in this.

In failing to afford the over 1,500 Palestinian children confirmed killed by the Israeli military since 2000 anywhere near as much attention as the 3 Israeli children killed by so far unknown assailants, the BBC breaks every journalistic guideline ever written, unless we’re talking the likes of Goebbels’ ‘big lie’.

They are guilty of grossly misinforming the British public and also the wider world where BBC News is consumed widely, and have made a complete nonsense of their own proudly flaunted ‘how good we are’ list of documents. (“Impartiality lies at the heart of public service and is the core of the BBC's commitment to its audiences.” – from its ‘Editorial Guidelines’ that have clearly been shredded.)

As well as misinforming an estimated 250 million people regarding the numbers killed, given the long bloody and unresolved conflict in Palestine-Israel, the BBC's consistent condoning and justification of Israel's use of collective punishment on the Palestinian people is nothing short of a war crime. By repeatedly opting to paint Israel as an ‘innocent peace-loving victim simply defending itself’ – both in what the corporation presents to the public, allows Israeli representatives to present unchallenged, and what it hides from us – the BBC is complicit in paving the way for more bloodshed.

If, alternatively, it questioned and strongly challenged the Israeli government position, pointing out that it holds the record for breaking 100s of UN resolutions by, in brief, illegally occupying and expanding into Palestine and enforcing a medieval siege on 1.657m people in Gaza – this would surely NOT give the Israeli government the green flag to carry on as the BBC currently does so repellently.

Finally, in its complete failure to highlight all the possible paths to peace, it is choosing to be at least a tacit advocate for ongoing war and killing. The BBC has made a conscious decision not to raise the fact that citizens of all countries in the world, Palestine and Israel included, want a lasting peace, and that because of that politicians need to work all the hours in the day and night if necessary to achieve it.

Rather than mildly, sometimes apparently keenly, accepting war as most people accept a rainy day, the BBC could point out very firmly to politicians and the public that it is incumbent on all political leaders to explore and follow through steps to peace, otherwise they will have failed in their elected roles.

SHOW PEOPLE THE REAL STATS IN THEIR TRUE CONTEXT BBC; DON'T CONDONE ANOTHER COLLECTIVE DEATH SENTENCE; SHINE A LIGHT ON PATHS TO PEACE INCUMBENT OF POLITICIANS!

Peace and mutual respect will come when rather than a pro-hate one-sided blame narrative, the truth is allowed to shine.

DRAFT PROPOSAL FOR DEMANDS TO BBC:

1)GUARANTEE TO HIGHLIGHT OVER 1.5K PALESTINIAN CHILDREN KILLED SINCE 2000, AND CLOSE TO 200 PALESTINIAN CIVILIANS IN CURRENT MASSACRE, WITH EQUIVALENCE TO THE 'STATE FUNERAL' TYPE BROADCAST AWARDED TO THE 3 ISRAELI CHILDREN RECENTLY, AND GUARANTEE TO ALWAYS IN FUTURE GIVE ACCOUNTABLY MEASURED FAIRLY REPRESENTATIVE TIME TO THOSE KILLED ON EACH SIDE.

2) GUARANTEE TO STOP REPEATEDLY JUSTIFYING ISRAELI ATTACKS (using 'in response' / 'in defence') WHILE CONSISTENTLY BLAMING PALESTIAN ONES ('started the current violence').

3) GUARANTEE TO HIGHLIGHT DETAILS OF WORLD'S 4TH ARMY COMOARED TO THE PALESTINIAN REGUGEE MILITANTS, AND NOT TO PAINT THIS AS A 'WAR' WITH TWO RELATIVELY EQUAL ADVERSARIES.

4) GUARANTEE MEASURABLY EQUAL TIME FOR PALESTINIAN REPS AND ISRAELI.

5) GUARANTEE TO HIGHLIGHT THE CORE ISSUE OF ILLEGAL OCCUPATION, COLONISATION AND STARVATION RATION SIEGE AS THE BASIC OBVIOUS REASON FOR TENSION, AND THE RESOLUTION OF THIS BEING THE ONLY PATH TO PEACE, INCUMBENT ON POLITICIANS TO ACHIEVE.

6) GUARANTEE TO DETAIL PRECISELY ALL BBC LINKS AND MEETINGS WITH BICOM AND ALL OTHER ISRAELI PR/LOBBY/INTEREST GROUPS, AND INDIVIDUALS ( eg VISITS AND DISCUSSIONS WITH THE ISRAELI AMBASSADOR) WITH ACCESS TO BBC STAFF (see especially chapter 5: bit.do/BICOMREPORT )

      Dr Mona El-Farra:

      Another massacre in Gaza

Overnight and into the morning, Israel committed another massacre in Gaza. Ambulances are blocked from reaching the effected areas so we still don’t know the full extent of the damage. Ma’an News Agency reports:

"At least 40 people have been killed and hundreds have been injured in the eastern neighborhood, medics said Sunday. The death toll is expected to rise as more bodies are uncovered."

As we write, the reports on the number of people killed increased to 60. Who knows how many by the time you read this message?

Here is an account from Dr. Mona El-Farra in Gaza City written in the early hours of the morning:

The Israeli tanks, airforce are bombing continuously. They are targeting Al-Shajaiya neighborhood [eastern part of Gaza City]. The airforce is flying planes very low and they are shelling houses. They are shelling everywhere, hitting many houses. People are dying. The Israeli occupation dehumanizes us by killing us while we are sleeping.

The ambulances are trying to reach the dead and injured and transfer them to hospitals but many ambulances couldn't pass.

Tens of wounded people, old and young, are stranded. The ambulances can't reach them to help them. Tens of bodies in the street or buried in the rubble. My friend Hani is a father in Al-Shajaiya and his wife is pregnant. He called me and told me that it's not possible for the ambulance to reach them. He is scared that they will die there before the ambulance reaches his family because there is bombing everywhere.

The number of people killed is increasing every minute because medical teams can't reach the area and people are bleeding.

People are running, terrified in the streets.

Many families, many children are leaving the Al-Shajaiya neighborhood coming to Gaza's city center. Women, men, children walking and running. I can see a woman carrying her baby and terrified children around her. They are running to escape the smell of death.

The bombs and the shrapnel that are falling like rain on us are made and supported by your governments: England, USA, Australia, etc.

It is better to use these funds for health and education.

Which kind of humanity is this? Which kind of modern society is this?

This is what the Israeli occupation is doing and all the while using propaganda to try to hide the truth.

I call on everyone in this world don't say that you didn't know. I am telling you right now and you can hear me.

This occupation, this massacre, is protected by a silent world.

      Wake up. Don’t remain silent.

“Most difficult moment for a father: split his children in all corners of the house or all in one corner and die together?” –Mohammed Omer.

I’m walking and a man says, “If the Palestinians would just love their children more than they hate their enemy, the violence would be over.”
      Yes.
      If only.
If only they would love their children.
If only they had chosen the four corners
      (so they would die)
or kept them in the middle
      (so they would die).
If only they would have brought four-day old Noura back to life.
If only they would kiss their children’s dead mouths and breathe life into them.
If only they would raise their arms to the sun to block the bombs with the palms of their hands.
If only they would dry the rivers of blood in the streets and pour them back into the hearts of their daughters and sons.
      Why don’t they?
Why can’t they just pull out their own lungs and stick them into their slaughtered children’s chests?
Why can’t they just sing, 24 hours a day, louder than thunder, to prevent their ears from hearing the sound of bombs?
If only they would love their children, and carry their bodies up into the air, above the siege, past the blockade, into freedom.
If the Al-Batsh boys’ parents had really loved them,
they wouldn’t have let their insides be wrenched apart by the bomb that fell.
They would use their hands to hold their limbs together so that they could stay in one piece.
If only they would stop the vibrations which create sound,
the sound which crashes and bleeds through their children’s ears.
If only they would stop all light from traveling, so that their children wouldn’t have to see their sisters, cousins, fathers, brothers.
      Dead on the floor.
      Their house turning to rubble.
      Their family turning to dust.
      Their family turning to nothing.
      Their world disappearing.
And why doesn’t their love sustain their children more than food?
Heal the wounds from the weapons?
They had seconds to leave before the bombing began.
They should have thrown their children out the window,
      knowing they would take flight
with the wings their love had created.
If only they loved Mohammed, Ahed, Zakaria and Mohammed
      enough
to rise above their soccer game and change
the magnetic forces of the Earth,
      to pull away the bomb,
      headed for the beach.

    4. List of Demands to BBC (draft) - Pls Tell PSC Specific Demands Needed!

      Mark Nadim
      Petition Organizer

PLEASE contact Palestine Solidarity Campaign to tell them Specific Demands to BBC are crucial; a blunt-headed approach fronted by a moving but fluffy letter is doomed in any dispute.
      - You would never get that from NHS campaigners or Firefighters! Why OK here? IT'S NOT OK! A clear set of goals/demands (not necessarily list below) is a basic and obvious essential.
      - To ignore this is illogical and a complete betrayal of the heart and energy faithfully invested by protesters like you and me all over the UK to try to help those suffering and in dire dire need in Palestine, and which PSC take traditional charge of translating into a message to achieve something tangible. Here, sadly, for whatever real reasons they are currently driving the protest into the swamp by denying the need for any demands at all! "If the BBC say no, we'll look silly" (word for word).
      - The protests outside BBC offices have been large, peaceful, very widespread and involve a wide base of the community. (eg http://vimeo.com/100655533) NOW IS THE TIME TO DEMAND SPECIFIC MEASURABLE CHANGES FROM BBC THAT WE PAY FOR! BBC really doesn't want the truth of Israeli brutal illegal colonisation and apartheid and its complicity in that forced out embarrassingly by more protests.
      - PSC's response to me raising this by phoning, emailing and posting on their FB page, always politely? - Disabling my FB comments, not answering any emails, and the most bizarre, feeble and illogical excuses over the phone (see News updates below).

DONT LET PSC LET BBC OFF THE HOOK and squander the unprecedented wave of protests outside BBC offices nationwide: insist on open negotiations with specific demands. Contacts at the bottom.

BBC REFORMS REQUIRED FOR WAVE OF PROTESTS TO BE SUSPENDED:
      1) GUARANTEE to make up for past innaccuracies by highlighting the over 1,500 Palestinian children killed since 2000, and 230 palestinian civilians - rising very fast - killed so far in the current massacre, with equivalence to the immense time and 'state funeral' approach awarded to the three israeli children killed recently, which gave a wholly false impression to the 1/4 billion BBC users worldwide of the real stats. GUARANTEE too to always in future give both accurate statistics and accountable representative time to those killed on each side to avoid misinforming the public in such a way again.

      2) GUARANTEE to stop the obvious process of repeatedly justifying israeli acts of violence ('in response' / 'in defence') while consistently blaming Palestinian acts of violence ('started the current violence') by using subjective / IDF info on the start date and cause of each intensification of what is clearly an ongoing (47 years at least) violently enforced illegal occupation by Israel of Palestinian lands.

      3) GUARANTEE to highlight details of the world's 4th army, navy and air force using cutting edge technology (Israel) and the Palestinian refugee militants in Gaza using smuggled and home-made missiles, and GUARANTEE not to paint the illegal brutally enforced ocupation by the Israeli miltary superpower as a 'war' between two relatively equal adversaries.

      4) GUARANTEE measurably equal time for Palestinian representatives and supporters and Israelis.

      5) GUARANTEE to highlight the core grudge issues: illegal occupation / colonisation by Israel, the ongoing division of Palestine into smaller and smaller separated pieces by Israel and the medieval siege inflicted on Gaza by Israel, described as a prison camp on starvation rations now under ground assault. GUARANTEE to highlight these injustices as the undeniable reasons for tension, and the resolution of these crimes being the only path to peace, and incumbent on politicians to achieve.

      6) GUARANTEE to detail precisely all bbc links and meetings with the Israeli PR firm BICOM known to have wide access and all other Israeli PR/lobby/interest groups, and individuals ( eg visits and discussions with the Israeli ambassador) with access to BBC staff (see especially chapter 5: bit.do/bicomreport )

    5. NO SPECIFIC DEMANDS = NO HOPE OF IMPROVEMENT: TELL PSC! + GREAT VIDEO!!!

      Mark Nadim
      Petition Organizer

Please folks, let's follow our hearts and act using logic.

We are all deeply saddened by the ongoing slaughter in Palestine. The murder by shelling of children playing on a beach in Gaza is a horrific low point, among a terrible assortment of the worst humanity is capable of doing to itself.

What can we do? Leave it to those at the top of symbolic organisations like PSC to decide the best thing on our behalf?

I was a union rep in a large FE college a few years ago and I found this out v quickly: "No specific demands = No hope of improvement". I was co-branch secretary of the teachers' union. Had never been involved in a union previously.

Management were bringing in draconian 'reforms' (badly affectimg students and staff) and I learnt within a few weeks that cosy chats with management, emotional speeches at meetings etc achieve ZERO.

Worse than achieving nothing, a blunt-headed emotional-laden but practical-result-empty approach can capture the passion and energy of protesters who have put their faith in the group leadership, but takes it down a blind alley and throws it in the swamp where it sinks. Betrayal at best.

What is needed in any dispute is a specific list of demands formed by, shared with and fully supported by the rank and file of protesters - NOT, as PSC have said they are having, "behind the scenes" discussions with BBC. And without specifc demands because "if the BBC say no, we'll look silly".

Feeble and useless, however emotionally expressed, and however real their commitment.

PSC have now disabled any comments I can make on their FB page calling for the need for specific demands to be made: what a democratic move that is eh?

All the passion and humanity that has been shown by protesters (again and again and again) will come to nothing (again) if results are not achieved, and the only way to get results is to:
      A) Agree what results are needed (eg proposed draft demands in earlier 'News' update below)
      B) Share and build support for this list of demands
      C) Put the demands to BBC and place them at the forefront of all demonstrations.

PSC will undoubtedly drive the massive popular support for Palestine into the swamp with a purely emotional/angry letter approach.

You want that to happen? Of course not. Ive been disabled from making the point on their FB page, so please ...

Please contact them and argue that with tens of thousands outside BBC studios up and down the country there has never been (maybe never will be?) a better time to make specific demands.
      Call them: 43 (0)20 7700 6192;
      Email: martial.kurtz@palestinecampaign.org (pls cc me mark.nadim@yahoo.co.uk ans report any other contact);
COMMENT ON FB: Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Stop the War Coalition.

Finally, you really must must watch and share this fantastic video of a convoy and protest outside BBC Manchester, put to some excellent music and edited brilliantly - how do they do the soaring high shots?

Brought tears to my eyes that a group of young friends organised this show of unity and peaceful strength for the love of fellow humans being oppressed and murdered in Palestine. Enjoy.

    6. URGENT! TELL PSC NOT TO LET BBC OFF HOOK!!!

      Mark Nadim
      Petition Organizer

Palestine Solidarity Campaign have told me over the phone word-for-word they "dont want to make specific demands to the BBC because if the BBC say no, they'll look silly" !!!

This is the most ridiculous and feeble excuse for not pushing for demands to be met Ive ever heard, ESPECIALLY GIVEN THE FACT THE BBC IS CORNERED WITH 1000s OUTSIDE ITS OFFICES THEnLENGTH AND BREADTH OF THE COUNTRY.

It's certainly far too feeble and ridiculous to be actually true, imo.

As an ex union rep and negotiator with a two-faced management in a large college, I know that a fluffy non-specific approach like the PSC letter achieves nothing and plays fully into the hands of the blatantly Israel-favouring BBC.

THERE HAVE BEEN TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE OUTSIDE BBC STUDIOS IN ALMOST EVERY CITY AND THEY "don't want to make specific demands because they might look silly" !!!??? It can only be a cover for other reasons imo.

THE MOMENTUM IS WITH THE PROTESTERS! NOW IS EXACTLY THE TIME TO MAKE SPECIFIC DEMANDS!

The letter they will be handing in at Broadcasting House London later today is moving and could form a feature article, but it is entirely worthless, and some would even call it a betrayal, as theoretically the main protesters' written response to the BBC, regarding the grotesque pro-Israeli bias in their 'news'.

If PSC fail to act decisively with no specific measurable demands and allow BBC to wriggle so easily off the hook - (they have so far refused to add any, like those suggested in the previous update, and below) - how can they ever be trusted and taken seriously again? In that case we clearly need an alternative protest hub if PSC insists on 'driving the protest bus into the swamp'.

I was told they want to talk "behind the scenes with BBC instead of making specific open demands" - Taking the momentum away from protesters and purporting to represent protesters in secret while not making any much-needed measurable specific demands!? Really?

It's the sporadic action of protesters up and down the country which has brought about this wave of demands for reform at the BBC, not PSC, but PSC wants to spearhead it all and hand in a blunt fluffy letter and settle it 'behind the scenes'.

Is that all you want from PSC? If you want specific demands made LET THEM KNOW NOW! And tell your friends!

    7. URGENT LETTER SENT TO PALESTINE SOLIDATITY CAMPAIGN TODAY

      Mark Nadim
      Petition Organizer

      Dear Martial Kurtz

As a seasoned PSC member, I beseech you to find the good sense to please please not waste the unique opportunity to put well-supported specific demands for reform to the BBC now while the iron is hot.

As any union negotiator will tell you, only specific demands with specific threats of action if those demands are not met have a chance of achieving anything.

The PSC letter to the BBC as it stands is a heart-felt but ultimately pointless message which will achieve ZERO and entirely waste the unprecedented mass of protesters' demands for reform.

Further, unless the momentum is properly harnessed with real measurable demands, it will permanently mark PSC as ineffective and flawed.

NO SPECIFIC COMPLAINTS, SPECIFIC DEMANDS OR SPECIFIC THREATS OF FURTHER ACTION = NO POSSIBILITY OF ACHIEVING ANY SPECIFIC CHANGE OR CONCESSION!

The following is an imperfect list which can be used as it is / adapted.

Please please do not waste all the protesters' energy while the BBC is under pressure from the biggest most widespread protests outside its studios up and down the country in living memory by leaving the PSC letter devoid of measured specific demands.

These can be added.to the letter body or tagged on as "Specific Demands":

      ACT NOW!

DEAR TONY HALL DIRECTOR GENERAL AND JAMES HARDING DIRECTOR OF NEWS AND CURRENT AFFAIRS, THE FOLLOWING IS A LIST OF DEMANDS THAT AN IMPARTIAL PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTER WOULD NOT NEED TO BE ASKED. THE MASSES OF PROTESTERS OUTSIDE YOUR STUDIOS IN EVERY CITY IN THE UK ARE FURIOUS AT THE BLATANT PRO-ISRAELI BIAS AND WILL KEEP COMING BACK UNTIL WE RECEIVE CONFIRMATION THAT YOU AGREE THE FOLLOWING:
      2) GUARANTEE TO STOP REPEATEDLY JUSTIFYING ISRAELI ATTACKS ('in response' / 'in defence') WHILE CONSISTENTLY BLAMING PALESTIAN ONES.
      5) GUARANTEE TO HIGHLIGHT CORE ISSUE OF ILLEGAL OCCUPATION, COLONISATION AND STARVATION RATION SIEGE, (SUPPORTED BY SUITABLE DOCUMENTARIES) AS THE BASIC OBVIOUS REASON FOR TENSION, AND THE RESOLUTION OF THIS BEING THE ONLY PATH TO PEACE, INCUMBENT ON POLITICIANS TO ACHIEVE.
      6) GUARANTEE TO DETAIL PRECISELY ALL BBC LINKS AND MEETINGS WITH BICOM AND ALL OTHER ISRAELI PR/LOBBY GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS ( eg VISITS AND DISCUSSIONS WITH THE ISRAELI AMBASSADOR) WITH ACCESS TO BBC STAFF. (see especially chapter 5: bit.do/BICOMREPORT )

Please have the good heart and sense to act effectively by putting specific demands and threats of further action to BBC senior staff while protesters are outside their offices nationwide.

THE CHILDREN OF GAZA AND ALL PROTESTERS OVER THE UK NEED THE MOMENTUM GENERATED BY DISGUST AT THE BBC OUTPUT TO LEAD TO DEMANDS FOR REAL CHANGE, NOT A WISHY WASHY BLUNT-HEADED LETTER WITH NO SPECIFIC DEMANDS INCLUDED!

REMEMBER WE PAY FOR THE BBC! WE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO DEMAND GOOD SERVICE FROM THEM!

ACT NOW TO ADD SPECIFIC DEMANDS OR YOU WILL FORVEVER LOSE MOMENTUM AND RESPECT FOR PSC.

    11. 'Brazil Despair' bigger story than Palestinian children and wo/men murdered

      Mark Nadim
      Petition Organizer

This petition was originally aimed, 9 days ago, at the huge imbalance between almost no attention or concern afforded to Palestinian children killed, and a drawn out major media event on a par with a royal marriage or state funeral when 3 Israeli children were killed. But it was partly expected that this international media event might be in preparation for a military action like the one we've seen. BBC coverage of this latest murderous violence has lived down to the appallingly one-sided coverage it provided in support of Israel's November 2012 attack (or as the Israeli govt always calls it 'defence').

This Wednesday morning 10th July Reuters estimated the 'kill-figures' between the Israeli, the world's 4th largest, military and Palestinian fighters using largely homemade weapons as these:
      - Number of Israelis killed since the launch of ‘Operation Protective Edge’: 0
      - Number of Palestinians killed since the launch of ‘Operation Protective Edge’: 'at least 47′, of which 41 were civilians, and 12 children.

Even so, this is the racist pro-Israeli headline spin BBC put out: "Israel Under Renewed Hamas Attack". (Good report here: http://interventionswatch.wordpress.com/2014/07/09/david-cameron-spoke-to-benyamin-netanyahu-today-heres-what-was-said/ )

Now the figures for Palestinian civilians killed have risen further, but at one point earlier today on their news site 'Brazil's Despair' featured while the conflict didn't even make it! Owen Jones rightly described the imbalance in the two sides in the conflict: "like Mike Tyson punching a toddler".

Some reports link Israel's long term desire to appropriate the gas off the coast of Gaza to this latest blodbath.

Whatever the Israeli govt's real motivation, the BBC is the voice of apartheid Israel in the UK and worldwide. It must be challenged.

I'm not a lawyer, but surely this is RACISM by the law's standard, as it is using any basic common sense. Surely it's legally a racist act to report Palestinians' lives as far less important than Israeli lives. I am trying to pursue this with professional advice.

There are many protests around the country over the next few days. If you can, pls share this petition by asking folks to find it via MEDIALENS.ORG It's in their latest report where it appears in the Suggested Action section.

We are all hoping and praying that truth can bring justice and peace, and stop the murder of innocents.

    13. BBC Tries to Cover Pro-Israeli Bias with More Pro-Israeli Bias

      Mark Nadim
      Petition Organizer

Just two very striking ways that the BBC have been covering blatant bias with more blatant bias in the last few days:

      1) "How would you expect Israel to react?"
      - John Humphrys, the esteemed big cheese, defends from a wholly Israeli government position the beatings and murder of Palestinians on Radio 4's Today programme.

John Humphrys, presented to us as the placid and wise 'Mastermind' quizmaster too, is one of the esteemed anchor's on Radio 4's Today programme. On Thursday morning (03/07/14) he repeatedly interrupted and verbally hounded a Palestinian representative in a highly aggressive performance supposedly aimed at making clear to listeners that the Palestinian was the 'bad guy' in this story. This was between giving 2 Israeli representatives a far freer rein earlier and later in the programme.

Worst of all, in discussing the retaliatory beatings by groups of Israelis and police in Jerusalem, and particularly the murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir, Humphrys asked: "HOW WOULD YOU EXPECT ISRAEL TO REACT?"

The Palestinian speaker was polite in answering, perhaps surprised for a moment, and it took me - not under the pressure of being in a live interview - a good few moments to get to the gravity of how anyone could ask that question. Especially in light of a young Palestinian boy's most brutal murder, by being burnt alive, and in light too of the - irrelevant to the BBC - several other killings of Palestinians in the apparent hunt for the killers of the 3 Israelis.

As Humphrys' words sank in - "HOW WOULD YOU EXPECT ISRAEL TO REACT?" - it became clear that the question could only have come from a unique impassioned connection with the Israeli government's position (or more accurately from a script designed to support that impression), and complete disdain for Palestinian lives.
      (Thursday 03/07/2014, 2 hours 15 mins in: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qj9z/episodes/player)

Could the BBC ever contemplate asking - could anyone ever contemplate the BBC asking - the same question with 'Palestine' and 'Israel' in different positions, that is: could the BBC ever ask "How would you expect Palestinians to react?" following violence and murder. Of course not! 100% impossible! Identification with violent actions only ever occurs with 'our side', in this case clearly 'our side' is the Israeli side, according to the BBC interpretation of the world. And the Israelis, as anyone who follows BBC's position will know all too well, "only ever attack in response".

Listen also for Humphrys cynically shoving "calling for the destruction of Israel" into the interview-mugged Palestinian speaker's unsuspecting mouth. He immediately corrected Humphrys on this, but it's another example of how the rare Palestinian representative was set up to fall.

      2) "the fate of the boys — there was a special kind of chilling factor, a cold blooded calculation to that crime that slightly sets it aside from the other waves of violence that we report on across the Middle East."
      - Kevin Connolly, a BBC Middle East correspondent places the tragic killings of these 3 Israeli children above all other brutal and tragic killings added together; again fully supporting the Israeli government's propaganda.

      (Report by Amena Saleem)
A BBC Middle East correspondent has made the astonishing claim that the killing of three Israeli youths in the West Bank last month is somehow more appalling than “the other waves of violence that we report on across the Middle East.”

Kevin Connolly’s remarks, which seem to place the murders of three Israeli youths above the thousands of Palestinians killed by Israel during decades of illegal occupation, and above the slaughter in Syria and Iraq, were made during a live exchange on Radio 4’s Today program on Tuesday.

Hi all, the BBC is unsurprisingly 'coy' at dealing with these matters, and limits its 'big-sounding' complaints system to a long drawn out 1 at a time process, and tries to duck these petitions by hiding emails, though some work.

3,500 and counting say Let's push on!!!

      Option 1) Email newswatch@bbc.co.uk; paul.royall@bbc.co.uk; samira.ahmed@bbc.co.uk; tony.hall@bbc.co.uk; and CC me at mark.nadim@yahoo.co.uk -

Please Inside the actual email explain that you are writing in support of this petition - http://t.co/pv2P9FKnfj - and ask to forward to James Harding Director of News and Current Affairs

Please express yourself politely to explain why you believe the BBC coverage is biased in favour of Israel: eg by not mentioning far higher numbers of Palestinian children killed; by accepting and echoing Israeli arguments for violent retribution; by not seeking out paths to peace.
Bad language and / or insults will only harm the petition - please avoid writing if you want to use that kind of stuff!

Option 2) It takes up to 5 mins (you can spare it!) to fill in the complaints form here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/
Pls mention the Petition - http://t.co/pv2P9FKnfj - and pls email me to share.

As reports come in of Palestinians being pulled from cars and beaten in revenge attacks, and the body of a murdered Palestinian found in Jerusalem, the urgent need for reliable reporting which is accurate and fairly balanced could not be greater. Though the BBC is UK based it has an international reach and its stance on issues is always a touchstone for a great many.

Thank you for helping to raise the number of supporters to just over 800 at last count - not at all bad for 24 hours. Please, in order to help make this a matter the BBC can't simply ignore and brush aside, please can you help build this petition further?

      Just Imagine:

      - The BBC, and other mainstream news providers, show the suffering among Palestinians and Israelis AS IT IS - not filtered through politically motivated lenses and mouthpieces.

      - The 3 abducted and murdered Israeli children still get all the many many hours of dedicated airtime on international news, and the 1500 Palestinian children killed since 2000 get 500 times as much too! Each has their name, picture and family story aired in the same way.

WHY ON EARTH SHOULD THEY NOT BE REPORTED EQUALLY BBC?

      - And one more dream: politicians are held to account to achieve peace settlements or dismissed.

The world's eyes need to be lifted to the reality of this insanely perpetuated conflict, pushed by the soulless and twisted, and involving the deaths of so many innocent children and civilians on both sides.

The mass misinformation peddled by the BBC, among others, will ensure continued hatred and conflict for the innocent young minds of every future generation until a stand is made:

      Tell the BBC to immediately:
      - REPORT THE 1500 PALESTINAN CHILDREN KILLED SINCE 2000!
      - CONDEMN COLLECTIVE RETRIBUTION BY WORLD'S 4th LARGEST MILITARY ON ONE OF WORLD'S POOREST AND MOST DENSELY POPULATED ZONES!

I have long been aware of how utterly biased and misleading the BBC is, not to mention all the other corporate media. by questioning everything and following news from many different sources. I have built a clear picture that almost everything they report is thoroughly biased, by use of one-sided facts and total omission of 'the other side's point of view'. I am consistently angered and amazed by what they report as 'news', and utterly dismayed and worried by the amount of good, intelligent people that are either totally sucked in by 'the good old BBC', or believe there is nothing we can do so 'why get stressed about it!?'. I want to see REAL balance and impartiality in all 'news' reporting. If the current corporate-state media, with its' vested interests and profit-before-people agenda continues to hold sway over public minds and opinion, we are ALL truly doomed.

As a human being and also having common sense, I know when shit needs to stop. I hope you aren't lying about over 1500 kids killed. Jeez ICC needs to do something. The ebola virus has killed nearly 2000 and we send help to them......really, come on, it doesn't make sense. We need to tell our friends over in Israel to settle this like some real human beings.
