The Lowdown: Any worried parent might be tempted to reduce infection rick by buying products that promise to stamp out bacteria. But most of these rely on triclosan, a chemical that's been found in animal studies to interfere with the expression of testosterone and also to affect the thyroid hormones. The US Food and Drug Administration says that the chemical is not currenlty known to be hazardous to humans, but it is i in the process of a regulatory review.
