In Fla and in NYC we have recently witnessed the heartbreaking results of racial profiling and overzealous law enforcement run amok. The deaths of 18 year old Rahmarley Graham and 17 year old Trayvon Martin, along with countless other nameless, faceless men and women throughout the history of this country should weigh heavily on the conscious of every responsible American. No community should be singled out for abuse regardless of race, age, gender, sexuality, income or mental health status. As Americans we should all have the right to go about our business without fear of harassment from law enforcement. The tragedies we have seen in recent weeks were completely avoidable. It is time for a change.

Racial profiling is an inefficient, counterproductive policy that fosters distrust, animosity and injustice. Please join with us to put an end to this shameful practice that is a relic of a past era in American history. The marches, protests, petitions and the subsequent dismissal of these incidents have become routine. Enough is enough. Equal protection under the law for all Americans.

The reason why I am signing this petition is because there needs to be change, and intervention. My son and I and many others are experiencing the same injustice in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. Profiling, Prosecutorial/Judicial Misconduct is on the rise and little is being done about these hate crimes, and systemic racism against African Americans, and other minority poor people.

This is a dehumanising practice that is as ineffective as it is unjust. If you are respecting the law, the law and other enforcement officials should respect you back. Stop & frisk is an insult to so many young men, particularly those in NYC, particularly those who are ethnic minorities.

Mayor Bloomberg has lost all sense of moderation and intelligence with regards to running a city; New York exists within a democracy: it is not a police-state buffeted by its own martial law, insulated from common sense + decency...

Racial profiling is always wrong in the United States of America. Period. I don't want my children to have a permanent black mark on their record just for being black if they visit NYC!! This affects all of us & this must end.

This is appalling on so many levels. These police officers should be prosecuted for abusing their power. The affected people have their futures deeply impaired with such petty arrests. Here they may not be able to get student loans, jobs and even evicted from their homes. It is also disturbing to waste tax payer money by over burdening our courts with such petty offenses.
