Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who calls himself “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” is not only known for his despicable record of abusing immigrants, but he is now also responsible for the failure to investigate over 400 sex crimes in his state. Most of the victims of these sexual abuses were children, as young as 2 years old. It is outrageous that, instead of helping make his state safer, Joe Arpaio has put children at risk for years by not pursuing these crimes.

Rather than accepting responsibility for his despicable actions, Joe Arpaio offered an apology saying “if there were any victims, I apologize to those victims” without an ounce of sincerity or remorse for failing these children. Arizona’s two Republican Senators, John McCain and Jon Kyl, have also come out against Sheriff Arpaio’s blatant disregard for the law and victims of sexual abuse.

It is outrageous that Sheriff Joe Arpaio could get away with this complete mishandling of his power as Sheriff by issuing a two-faced apology. We must hold Joe Arpaio accountable for the suffering of these children. It is time for Sheriff Arpaio to step down from office. He has failed to protect the people of Arizona, including some of the most vulnerable: children and victims of sexual abuse.

On December 15, 2011, the U.S. Justice Department released their findings after a three-year investigation of Arpaio's office amid complaints of racial profiling and a culture of bias at the agency's top level. The report stated that under Arpaio, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has "a pervasive culture of discriminatory bias against Latinos" that "reaches the highest levels of the agency."

is obvious that Joe Arpio is not part of the justice department,he is running his own wild west justice and those days are well gone,so is time for him to get with the times or get out and let someone else that is up to date to deal with his post,,,
