We, the community members of parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Louis urge Archbishop Robert J. Carlson to support the resignation of Bishop Robert Finn from the Kansas City – St. Joseph Diocese .

I understand that you are well known for helping to break the culture of clerical secrecy in your former Archdiocese of Minneapolis. Your work is reported to be a model of honest, open cooperation with public officials. You are reported to have concern for the safety of children thirty years later. That being said, what is important now for the Church in Missouri is that we have leaders who can be respected and who model the Gospel values that we aspire to. If bishops ever hope to regain respect for their authority as authentic teachers of faith and morals this is nonnegotiable.

In September of 2012, a judge found Bishop Robert Finn guilty on one misdemeanor charge after he failed to report a priest who had taken or possessed hundreds of pornographic pictures of young girls. Even though Finn was found guilty in a court of law, he remains the Bishop of the Kansas City – St. Joseph Diocese. Archbishop Carlson should protect children and call for Finn's resignation.

Bishop Finn should immediately resign and the USCCB, should support his resignation.

NOTE: We encourage everyone to join this campaign, but if you're a Catholic person or survivor of abuse, please say so in the "Why People Are Signing" section. Thanks!

I don't want persons convicted of crimes in office leading the church. If Bp. Finn did not know any better, that too should be a disqualification for the office.

It's important that our role models in the community are those in which lead with morality and truth.

I am a 'recovering' Catholic. It is the institutional church's tolerance, even encouragement, of a culture of abuse of children and women that finally drove me away. You are not a community in the true spirit of Christ if you continue to condone and conceal this kind of criminal behavior. Shame.
