Let Us Spend Christmas With Our Families!!

A&P has never been open on Christmas day. This year A&P has decided to stay open on Christmas Day. This is taking one of the most important days of the year away from a lot of our families. By deciding to stay open on Christmas we won't be able to share this important and holy day with our families.

We're required to work on Christmas Eve & Christmas day now, leaving us with no time to spend with our families!  This is about standing up for ourselves, about A&P respecting us.  We have families too and deserve to spend the day with them!

We were inspired by Anthony Hardwick's petition against Target opening on Thanksgiving which said, "A full holiday with family is not just for the elite of this nation -- all Americans should be able to break bread with loved ones and get a good night's rest!"

We share Anthony's sentiment and say we A&P workers, who work so hard for our customers to enjoy their holidays, deserve to spend the holidays with OUR families! All retail workers and their families deserve respect during the holiday season!

Thank you to all who have shared this and signed so far! Let's keep pushing this! We reached 300 signatures!

Some people have been cynical on the petition, thinking it won't accomplish anything, that its a waste of time and A&P wont care at all, maybe so... But I think it's a waste for us not to do anything at all. To just stand by while the company forces us to work on a holiday like Christmas. This effort is about standing up for ourselves, about fighting for respect. It's also bringing this to the public, letting people know what A&P's plans are...The customers I've spoken too were outraged.

The same thing is going on at Target opening on Thanksgiving, that petition has over 200,000 signatures supporting the workers there.

We have families too and deserve to spend the day with them! If you're on board with the idea that we all deserve respect, and have right to stand up for ourselves, sign the petition then share it with your coworkers, friends, families and customers!

People should not have to work on Christmas Day. It is a religious holiday.

I am signing because the stores should be closed Christmas Day so the employees can stay home with their families.
