If you don't have home checks, how do you know what the pet is getting into? Even something as simple as a fenced yard, a doghouse, etc...can be lied about if no one can actually see where the pet will spend their new life. Checking to make sure a pet is going to a loving home and not an abuser's home is vital as well. If home checks are not done a vicious cycle is then created with a revolving door of pets being abused, becoming strays, ending up as a breeder's property, ending up as bait dogs, back in the shelter, tortured or eventually killed. Please provide and allow for proper home checks and protect these innocent animals who depend on us to be their voice!

I don't know the process of home checks at Animal Lifeline. I do know home checks are necessary to be sure there are not threats to a foster or adopted animal.

I volunteer and do this and it usually takes no more than 10 to 15 minutes once an appointment is arranged.Checking for wires, holes ,cracks or cubby's an animal can fall into, exposed chemicals , dangerous plants, window screens, other animal occupants,,kids, and just common sense.

It's just a simple check list ? Seems the most difficult is working out a time to show up.

Not sure what could be done wrong here, but hope it can be worked out easily and efficiently to help the animals.

after losing my beloved dog in June I approached AL and found a lovely dog but after weeks and weeks of phoning for home check talking to staff at kennels and leaving lots of messages I heard nothing and gave up. Later however I brought problems to the attention of AL and was told change would happen however nothing changed.
