In Maine there are no laws to stop people from collecting animals. The animals are being abuse thru either neglect or abuse. Recently a family had fire in Morrill and when community stepped forward found 22 dogs chained, malnourished, in need of vet, and in cages. A pony and goats in bad shape, malnourished, small crate, tied with chained, in feces so high the pony's hind quarters were in the air, hooves looked like dutch shoes, filthy, and in need of vet care. Dead animals all over the property. Alot of animals have perished in fire. History shows this is a generational thing for the father had 28 dogs perish in a fire some years ago. Please understand it is very prominent in the state of maine and the resources are not there to help the animals so we as people have to make people accountable for actions but also have to get the hoarders the help they need for this disease. Thank you.

They stole cash from a small local business (over $1200) and their animals are in terrible condition. They are not good people that are standing with their hand out to take my hard earned tax dollars.

So many times people think they are doing the right thing by keeping far to many animals. The animals suffer, their children suffer and so do the people that think they are doing the right thing by keeping them. Hording is usually a sign of mental illness. We need to establish laws so that we can reach out and help no only the poor animals but the people who keep them as well.

I believe that people who have "collected" more animals than they can financially care for, & give daily, individual TLC, have no right to own them!

I'll sign it, because I think animal hoarding hurts more animals than it helps.

One thing though, please have someone proof read and edit your "Why This Is Important" message. I see several errors in it. While it won't keep me from signing, it might keep some from taking you seriously.

I lived next door to the house in Morrill and I saw these animals first hand over a span of 5 years. They were not healthy or well cared for. I literally cried at times when I saw them because I felt so bad, and there was nothing that could be done. Animal control had been called over the years(by others) but never anything done. Animals are helpless and depend on their owners to give them the life they deserve and if you can't do that, you shouldn't have them.
