Sonoma County communities fear law enforcement. The recent killing of Andy Lopez has made this more evident. A Community Review Board with full investigatory power is needed to restore faith in law enforcement and promote transparency.

To:

Sonoma County supervisors took further steps Tuesday in their response to the Andy Lopez shooting, naming most of their appointees to a community task force that will study models for future citizen oversight of local law enforcement. Supervisors named representatives for nine of the 15 seats they will appoint on the 21-member county-chartered panel.

To the Editor, Once again we are confronted with the anguish of seeing another person killed by law enforcement. Once again we are asking why, after all of the investigations conducted by law enforcement agencies after each death, do they keep happening? The problem is that the investigations being conducted are asking the wrong questions.

I am a victim of abuse from Sonoma County sherrifs dept. which left me disabled for the rest of my life.I was beaten for over a hour over a mis-understood visatation order on their part. My doctor told me my whole body was injured as if I was in a car accident without a seat belt and the car rolling over 6 or 7 times! Then when my family and I had our family farm sold by a predatory lender,Martin Gavriloff, and his partners in crime Robert Kenney, and Keith Slipper .( Google their names and learn more about their real estate fraud scams.) Sonoma County Judge Boyd mishandled our lawsuit and refused to look at the true facts ,making my children and I homeless as well as losing our beautiful Morgan horses and our livlihood as a licensed childcare home. I cannot put into words the complete damage I have recieved from this countys' unlawful abusive policies . My family has been here since the 1870s' and change is definatly need now! Restitution is needed now !Justice is long past due for my family and all victims of their illegal actions any REAL lawyers out there?

I was beaten in the most horrible manner in front of my 4 yr. old child ,I am still suffering from the injuries . And hwn our family farm was illegaly sold by a local predatory lender the Sonoma County courts refused to look at our evidence proving this was a real estate fraud scam. I could not set up a meeting with Jill Ravitch concerning this crime due to her co-worker being a good friend of the predatory lender. Justice walks as money talks and change is needed NOW!

We, the people of Sonoma County, fear the police. When police arrive, they are likely to commit acts of deadly violence and violate our constitutional rights. To call the police, or to be stopped, is to have your life in danger. Any elected official who does not support police accountability is violating his/her sworn oath and contributing to and aiding and abbetting the environment of police violence and lawlessness on the part of 'law enforcement'. Please take us seriously, and empower a true Community Review Board, one that is not full of insiders and police sympathizers. Sincerely, Ron López, PhD
