Demand and promote midwives as first choice in USA Maternity Care

It's time. The climate is ripe for change in Maternity care in the USA. But it must be demanded by you and all women across the country.

It is our collective voice that speaks the loudest. When we unite together for a common and an extraordinary cause, a future vision for childbearing women and their babies, we can not be ignored - there is strength in numbers. The call for action is this: Midwives as the first choice in maternity care in the USA, not doctors.

Doctors have their place in obstetrics, but midwives and their intuitive level of expertise in assisting women through pregnancy and birth is unmatched by the medical community.

We need to hear your voice and raise awareness in the minds of other childbearing women. We need to stand tall and demand it to those who are resistant. We want midwives to care for us and birth our babies nation wide! It is our right as childbearing women!

If you were assisted by a midwife, or want to be cared for by a midwife during your pregnancy and upcoming birth, or you are a midwife, or anyone who respects midwives, share it here by signing the petition. The medical community needs to hear us.

Imagine moms-to-be being cared for by midwives. If medical intervention were needed it would be provided. Midwives would co-exsist in productive harmony with obstetricians. But midwives would be the first choice, easily accessible and available to childbearing women. This can happen! Our voice needs to get louder and louder! Join me, spread the word. Your voice, our collective voice will make a difference!

Just want to mention if you are a midwife, you are a midwife! There is NO discrimination here about professional training. I know there is a battle out there among midwives on this issue and in the medical community, but this petition is about being UNITED, standing tall and making a public statement for maternity care in the USA. So let's send a HUGE, BRIGHT flare into space with our collective voice on this issue. Let's crash the server! (Kidding change.org)

This is important to me because midwives have the most knowledge and give the best care throughout pregnancy, labor/delivery, and post pregnancy!

There is only one midwife I know of for miles and miles where I live. I think that there should be more midwives. I ended up having a c-section all because my doctor made it seem like I had to go to the hospital right on the 40 week mark and be induced. She pushed and pushed me to do it and I wasn't even positive about my conception date. I ended up having a c-section because of this. I just feel like my body definately could have handled the labor but I tried to force it all because of fear. We need more midwives to be reminded that this is what the womens body was made for and be supported and have encouragement. I will never feel like my c-section couldn't have been avoided if I would've had a doctor that could have waited with my body and made me feel support and guidance in my time of fear. PLEASE!--- please change this. Open up more options for women all around America! I live in a very small community and I felt forced to go with a medical labor and delivery experience because of this.

Because I wouldn't have been able to bring my 2 boys into this world in the peaceful, safe way I knew was the right choice for me! without my midwife.
