EL CONGRESO DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS TIENE QUE RESPETAR Y HACER VALER LOS DERECHOS DE ESTA ELECCION SOBRE LA CONCLUSION DE LA COLONIA PARA ASI ESTABILIZAR NUESTRA ECONOMIA.
On a referandum that took place on November 6 2012 a vast majority vote of 65.1% of voters chose to adopt Statehood as the option for the political status of the Island. Puerto Rico's 4 million US Citizens have finally conformed a majority as requested many times by the US Congress to push for a final status request. The referendum explicitly asked for voters to establish whether or not they were content with the current territorial status by choosing YES or NO. The NO received a majority vote. The second question gave Puerto Ricans three status options: Statehood, Independence and a Sovereign Commonwealth. 65.1% of Puerto Ricans chose STATEHOOD thus confirming that a request for the US Congress to begin a process to convert Puerto Rico to the 51st State in the Union is wanted. This referendum was a separate ballot on the elections held the same day so as to not confuse the result of the election with the desire of the Puerto Rican people in terms of the status issue. We request that Congress respect the will of the majority and propose directly to the Puerto Rican people the process for inclusion of Puerto Rico as a State of the Union.
