Change.org is the web's leading platform for social change, empowering anyone, anywhere to start petitions that make a difference.
This petition will be delivered to:
Development of Adobe Creative Suite 7, and all plans of future creative suites have been discontinued. The only option going forward will be the Creative Cloud (CC) subscription model.
You should support this petition because Adobe is making their already expensive products even more expensive in the long run. Adobe is robbing small business, freelancers, and the average consumer. They do not seem to understand that every company is a not multi-national, multi-billion dollar corporation that has an infinite amount of resources.
In the end it comes down to this: all of Adobe's consumers will not be able to make such a large payment every month on the CC subscription model. In the short term, the subscription model looks to be okay, but over time the only entity that is benefiting from this is Adobe. The (no longer) current model: paying a one time fee for infinite access is a much better business model and is better for the consumer.
Let's make a difference and stand up to Adobe and let them know our stance. We want our voices heard.

Supporters, I wanted to let you all know that there is a considerable amount of misinformation from both sides about the CC subscription model; those confused about the specifics of CC as well as deceitful propaganda coming from all over the place. Adobe has cleared up a few "myths" and misconceptions about CC, but nothing they have said has addressed the underlying issues. I wanted to let you all know this so you can vigilant and support this petition for the right reasons. Make sure to read up!

Excuse me for my absence. I have had many problems with accessing the change.org website.
Anyways, I wanted to share with you a place were you all can congregate and continue the conversation.

Adobe has released no news that has changed our stance here. Keep up the conversation. The only way to get Adobe to change is to continue sharing our dissatisfaction with their decision.
In the Middle AGES existed droit de seigneur, NOW THERE ADOBE CLOUD.
I have used Photoshop Elements to edit my photos up to this point. I was interested in upgrading my software soon as I am getting more serious about my photography and plan to professional and open a business. I am saddened and frustrated to find out that they have changed the way to go about doing so. I cannot afford to do the cloud subscription upgrade and will be forced to stick with Elements or Lightroom, which limits my editing capabilities.
Creo que es mas importante innovar que estancarse y solo cobrar. Deben esforzarse mas en ser un ICONO de nobleza del software puesto que ya estan muy sólidos en el mercado y se deben poner las pilas.
I use Illustrator and Photoshop on a daily basis because I am a smal-time graphic designer. I can't afford to spend $50 a month renting software I would much rather buy. This is disgusting. I hope someone else makes alternative programs and Adobe blows itself off the face of the earth.
I would like the option to own the software outright instead of renting it.
Adobe is screwing freelancers and small business owners with this approach. Not only is the monthly "subscription fee" a high fee to begin with....but it could also go higher at anytime. And to lose access to our tools that would have already had us pay tons of money for before a hike in price...would be detrimental to our businesses. If I pay for something, I need to *own it* -- it's an investment for me and my company. I do not seek to rent any tool. I will be switching to Corel if their CC doesn't offer a "buy" alternative, or go back to CS. I refuse to be held hostage by a corporate giant just to make their stock rise by .025 of a point. This is predatory and I will not stand for it.
Due to the nature of the "upgrade at gun point" nature of the change, and the forced "renting" of software at prices that could be jacked up at anytime, I will not continue with the Adobe brand. It's suicide for a small business model.
This is disaster for independent freelancers who are already suffering in this economy.
I find this an unbelievably shameless move to capitalize on Adobe's dominant market position. There must be laws to prevent companies abusing their monopoly in ways like this.
If you want recurring revenue, then make a Software Assurance plan as the upgrade path, but give an option that leaves a product to use to access my old assets when I don't have a business to pay for upgrades I'm not using anymore.
