Abolish Deer Hunting in Ohio

      Seven Hills, OH

Ohio Division of Natural Resources (DNR). DNR the DNR!

Every year in late Sept., deer hunting season begins. My mission is to stop this. If you are interested in joining in my efforts to change the structure of the Ohio Divison of Wild"Death" to one that is NOT comprised of a board of all hunters; NOT catering to hunters who are only seven percent of our population; NOT profiting by 50% annually off "maximum sustainable yield" or "compensatory rebound effect" of deer populations; and NOT spreading deadly propaganda that killing deer helps "manage" their populations when they know full well that existing, effective birth control methods they refuse perpetuate the issue, then contact me NOW!

Deer-Vehicle Accidents (DVAs); untold suffering of our wildlife (annually, roughly 10% of Ohio whitetails are killed or maimed in DVAs, with the highest numbers FIRST DAY OF HUNTING because injured deer run into traffic); billions of dollars of insurance claims from DVAs, and even the complaints of gardeners -- all these things will be eliminated or reduced if the Division of Wildlife is forced to abolish hunting because HUNTING CAUSES OVERPOPULATION or "compensatory rebound effect." The Ohio DOW admits to this, and calls it "maximum sustainable yield."

Deer were reintroduced in Ohio some 60 years ago as a game species, specifically to cater to hunters. Since then, we've all paid the price, and it must stop now and forever.

The Ohio Division of Natural Resources and Division of Wild"Death" Board of Directors and officers must be replaced in a sweeping fashion with members representing Ohio's diverse constituency -- the other 93 percent that don't hunt, and don't want wildlife to suffer.

Lastly, Ohio DNR/DOW needs broad-based funding, to replace its sorely outdated model of hunter-funded interests -- which curently lines DOWs pockets to the tune of nearly 50 percent annually.

Seven Hills, Parma Should Join Regional Trend Away From Lethal Deer "Controls" - Parma Observer

Unless You Help, What Seven Hills, Parma May See Animal activists and the majority often feel powerless to stop hunting in their neighborhoods. But Northeast Ohioans are seeing victories in places like adjacent Broadview Heights and North Royalton, where, respectively, bow hunting ordinances have been repealed and prevented.

Ottawa County allowed lethal weapons into the back yards of North Holiday Hills residents to kill deer in November & December 2012. In the process they turned our public park into private hunting grounds. The county parks dept. has no data to back their claims there are "too many" deer.

    6. Ohio BMV Continues to Refuse My Anti-Hunting License Plate Reques

I have another 30 day temp tag for HUNTNOT, but was told by BMV employees, including special calls to Col. regional BMV and an hour and a half wait, that my new, less "offensive" tag request will almost certainly also be denied.

THE OHIO BMV NOT ONLY ISSUES PRO-HUNTING LICENSE PLATES, BUT IS PART OF THE SAME STATE GOV'T THAT ISSUES HUNTING PERMITS!

If this is not an outright violation of my constitutional right to free speech, then it's certainly a clear cut violation of my right to be issues special plates that equally reflect my feelings about hunting; if hunters and their advocates have a voice, then so should I.

      This is incredible!

September 29, 2012 signals the beginning of Ohio's hunting season. Send a message loud and clear to the Ohio Division of Wild"Death," that hunting is not acceptable, not a "management" tool, and not to be tolerated much longer.

Last season, there was so much rain, the hunt numbers actually decreased to almost 100,000, about 40% the annual average of 225/250K deer killed in Ohio. Will the Division of Wild"Death" try to, ahem, rebound its efforts by offering more incentives?

Probably. They've recently target those disabled in wheelchairs, women, and children AGED 11 AND YOUNGER!

Now, they will probably extend the season, increase the "bag limit," and other nonsense.

Make some noise with me, and please crosspost this petition to your FB and Twitter accounts. God bless the animal lovers, and god d**n the haters!

And while we're at it, remember that the Governor Kasich appointed the DNR director; Gov. is also petitioned herein. Often, governors boast "sport" hunting. Talk about entrenched, good 'ol boys crap.

They, the deer were here first. I know a lot of Deer hunters that say they want to preserve and manage the Deer population, when in reality these people will shoot anything that moves in the woods.

i believe that ending hunting would be improve the values & violence level in our changing culture. it is ridiculous to cater to the cruel desires of a very small percentage of the population. these innocent creatures are never being shot in "self defense'. i believe life is precious, and that it is not our right to take what they want from our mutual natural resources.
