Experts are predicting that the money spent in the 2012 elections will break all historical milestones because of The Supreme Court's opinion two years ago in Citizens United vs. FEC. These are the monies being spent by third party organizations not associated with candidate campaigns! The League of Women Voters is committed to reforming our nation's campaign finance system to ensure the public's right to know, combat corruption and undue influence, enable candidates to compete more equitably for public office and allow maximum citizen participation in the political process.

Unlimited and secret campaign money has no place in America's democracy. Voters have a right to know -- whether it is a corporation, union, trade association, or non-profit advocacy group making unlimited campaign expenditures and influencing elections. Now it is time for the voters to stand up and tell the media, the campaign organizations, and our elected officials that we don't like misleading information in election ads and we want to know who are behind these ads. Sign the "GIVE 'EM FLACK" petition to Save the Vote!

This is important to me because the influx of undisclosed private money into campaign advertising is diluting the voting power of individual Americans.

Blatant lies spoken by unaccountable candidates, vastly funded by deceptive, self-serving sources buying power and influence... deminishing the integrity of democracy.

Far too much money is being spent. Donors are not identified.

"Big Money" already influences way too much in this country. We have a right to know whose money is supporting which candidates.

This kind of campaigning "turns off" voters which is disenfranchisement!
