We're moving forward

Hi there Change.org Community!
Just wanted to share more info with you about Orange Networking and encourage you to ask questions.
ON is a pretty new organization. The idea started several years ago but it wasn't until late 2006 that we became incorporated in the State of North Carolina. Our tax exempt status, 501(c)3, is in the works. We have five board members including myself, a checking account, and have received a few financial donations.
Next steps for us is hardware and software testing. I'm purchasing some equipment to build solar powered wireless mesh routers. Then I'm going to put various Linux distros on the hardware to test them out. The goal is to find the best combo to deploy for pilot tests.
Once I have a working prototype I'll test the heck out of it. I plan on putting it outside at my home and let nature torture it with rain, sun, cold, heat, etc. All during this time I'll video tape what I learn. The goal of this part is to to show other people how to-do what I've done. None of this could have been accomplished without all the great knowledge out there on wifi and mesh networking. Thank you community wifi hackers!

We got some questions the other day from the IRS about our pending Tax Exempt status. Other people who've been through this say its normal. Working on it a lot. Wish us luck! :)
