North America's Premier Cinemaquatic Event!

Ocean lovers of all species will enjoy the San Francisco Ocean Film Festival (SFOFF), the first, largest, and most influential showcase of its kind in North America. Now in its seventh year, the festival returns February 3-7, 2010, to present 30+ documentary, fictional, and animated films from around the world, including deep dives into marine science, coastal cultures, ocean exploration, and saltwater sports. Each program is followed by discussions with filmmakers and/or content experts, creating a unique public forum on the environmental, social, and cultural importance of marine resources.

SFOFF produces an annual film festival for the general public. Each festival screens films from around the world, with post-screening Q&A sessions with filmmakers and field experts.

SFOFF's dedicated Education Program runs concurrent to the festival and hosts over 1,000 middle and high school students to view inspirational and informative ocean films and interact with filmmakers and marine scientists.

SFOFF produces year-round entertaining and educational programs with community partners throughout the Bay Area.

This event was the first film festival of its kind in North America and the second in the world, behind a well-established ocean festival in Toulon, France that has drawn large audiences for nearly 40 years. The San Francisco Ocean Film Festival is now the premier venue in North America for filmmakers from around the world to screen their works featuring the magnificence of our oceans, threats to marine life, and the human connection with the marine environment.
