Mission
The Ocean Conservancy promotes healthy and diverse ocean ecosystems and opposes practices that threaten ocean life and human well-being. Through research, education, and science-based advocacy, The Ocean Conservancy informs, inspires, and empowers people to speak and act on behalf of the oceans. In all its work, The Ocean Conservancy strives to be the world?s foremost advocate for the oceans.
Programs
The Ocean Conservancy pursues four main priorities, which include Reforming Government for Better Ocean Stewardship; Restoring Sustainable American Fisheries; Protecting Marine Wildlife from Human Impacts; and Conserving Special Ocean Places. The Ocean Conservancy also maitains a leadership position in saving right whales off the Atlantic coast; protecting manatees in waters around Florida; working nationally and internationally on protections for sharks, rays and skates; finding solutions to invasive species and aquaculture; and other local regional national and international marine conservation efforts.
