NWF's BackYard Habitat certification, and their TV program offers enjoyable and entertaining encouragement for everyday participation in wildlife conservation.

We provide shelter, food, water, nesting places, etc. for deer, raccoons, fish, various water fowl including Great Blue Herons, woodchucks, squirrels, opossums, coyotes and an occasional fox,  and many species of birds.  We also have the necessary plants to support many butterfly and insect species.    After answering a questionnaire online about our site and for a small fee I was able to get a sign from the National Wildlife Federation to post declaring our home grounds an official "Wildlife Habitat".  I hope by posting the sign to encourage others to develop their property to support as much wildlife as possible.

"Inspiring Americans to protect wildlife for our children's future!" It's NWF's mission statement...the undercurrent of all of our work...oh and the cheer we yell before every softball game. Being a part of the NWF team is an honor for me, and I have to say I think I have one of the best jobs in the organization. I get to talk to people through online networks, emails, web pages and blogs. Every day, people share their love for wildlife and America's wild places with me, and thank me for giving them ways to help those wild things out (www.nwf.org/action).

Kudos to one of the best enviro groups out there, an org that has a little something for everyone.

I am a member of the NWF program, " Alaska Youth for Environmental Action." Becaus eof my involvement in the organization I have had the pleasure of being a Summer Intern for the AYEA program and an employee of NWF. I am so grateful for NWF sponsoring the AYEA program and being an amazing organization. NWF is always on top of legislation and current environmental issues that affect us all.

I have worked with NWF since February 2000. I believe it is the best non-profit for me because it is big enough that I feel it has a loud national voice and thus can make a difference on the big issues like global warming. But it is small enough that I know most people who work here, and I feel like I can do innovative things.

NWF is an organization with integrity. It educates many people on environmental issues while maintaining a neutral-political standpoint. It is incredibly respectable and successful at inspiring Americans.
