NCLR is a great organization because it captures so many issue areas that affect members of the Latino community on a daily basis, whether it be youth leadership development, health, education, workforce development, economic mobility, and yes, the topic they are best known for (especially in more conservative parts of the country), immigration. The strength and the longevity of NCLR rests in the fact that they not only constantly lobby members of Congress on the Hill, but they have a programmatic to attend to the needs of their Affiliates, nearly 300 community-based organizations throughout the country that provide direct services to the Latino and other communities. This allows NCLR to have a strong and accurate grasp of the outside-of-the-beltway reality and translate it to the political sphere where they can effect policy changes.
