I have a couple of friends that have worked with Teach for America, and they all seem to really enjoy the program as well as the difference they are making in the lives of their students.  Teach for America always makes a significant push to recruit teachers graduating from my school, Stanford, and they attract people who are successful, driven, and dedicated to public service and education policy.  Since it is usually a 2-year program, it seems to serve as a very good stepping stone into other careers teachers may pursue after college, and it really helps out students in underserved communities who need good teachers in their classrooms.
