A champion for the poor and disenfranchised
-
The African American Planning commission can best be summed up as the little engine that could from the nursery rhyme that my mother used to read to me as a child. It is a caring organization with a very committed and dedicated group of staff. AAPCI staff work as a team to address issues of domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, homelessness and global poverty. No one employee does it all nor can one employee address all the myriad of presenting challenges. AAPCI staff provide the resources so that those we help are equipped to help themselves once they leave our organization and are out on their own in the world.
I have seen former clients come by the organization just to show their appreciation of what the organization did for them and their families while they were with us.
I have been with the organization for a few years and I cannot see myself going to work any where else. AAPCI is truly an organization that cares about those it serves.
