  1. Race Against Hunger Student Spotlight

"Action Against Hunger Experiences" by Ramona Action Against Hunger inspired me to help out. We got pledges for the Race, which was sponsored through my school, The Ancona School. I felt proud to have participated in helping others. Next, I wanted to do more once the Race was over. Victims of Attack Honored, Call For Justice New York, NY - Two years ago on 4th August 2006, 17 Action Against Hunger humanitarian aid workers were executed on their base in Muttur in Sri Lanka. They were killed in the offices of a humanitarian organization, a place which had, until then, been considered as a safe house. 17 of our colleagues, 17 friends, brothers and sisters. 13 men and 4 women. A father and his daughter, a mother and five fathers. 11 of them had not yet reached the age of 30. 17 human beings who lost their lives because they wanted to help others. Today, the 4th of August, two years to the day after this unprecedented crime, Action Against Hunger commemorates this tragic event. For two years now, out of respect to the memory of the volunteers killed in Muttu... Read More

Action Against Hunger readies the field for a more aggressive campaign against malnutrition The nutritional product “Plumpy’nut” has received some media attention recently. Despite the cute name, this product has shown considerable promise when it comes to tackling childhood malnutrition. As a “ready-to-use-therapeutic-food,” or RUTF, it is a nutritional product that could have a significant impact on the 20 million children who suffer severe forms of malnutrition around the world: only 3% of them ever receive treatment, resulting in 5 million childhood deaths each year. Ready-to-use-therapeutic-foods (RUTFs) already provide a partial solution by helping aid organizations like Action Against Hunger reach larger numbers of undernouri... Read More
