Take Action

Call 1-800-GENOCIDE and End the Violence in Darfur!

Tell your representative that the Darfur Peace and Accountability Act must be implemented!

Despite agreeing to allow an expanded peacekeeping mission into the region, the government of Sudan continues to bomb villages in Darfur in violation of the ceasefire agreement. As the government of Sudan continues to act with impunity, the United States must do everything in its power to pressure Khartoum to end the genocide.

It is important for the president to implement the Darfur Peace and Accountability Act passed by Congress and signed by the president. The United States must put words into action.

The DPAA must be implemented.

The DPAA contains two crucial provisions that will limit the ability of the government of Sudan to finance the genocide:

• Freezing the assets
of individuals guilty of committing genocide and perpetrating violence in the region

• Denying entry at US ports
to oil tankers that have done business with the government of Sudan

A recent poll conducted by GI-Net shows that the majority of Americans not only believe stopping genocide should be a high foreign policy priority, but support the implementation of these two provisions. For more information about the state of DPAA implementation, please read our latest status report.

Ask your representative to ensure that the president is implementing the DPAA!
