Digital Video at NCH

In the media age, video messaging for a public education and legislative campaign is essential. Everyday, millions of young people visit sites like YouTube and MySpace to watch short videos on a plethora of topics, including news and politics, activism and video blogs. Video is a powerful and impacting tool: the emotional potential for any messaging through video is often greater than the written word and can be recreated and replicated to a wider audience than single testimony. NCH needs to harness this tool.

NCH has been given the opportunity to acquire two camcorders for considerably less than we could hope to purchase them elsewhere. These are brand new camcorders and are being distributed to non-profit organizations in the US by an organization called Flip Video Spotlight. Their mission is to help nonprofit organizations use the power of video to make the world a better place.

NCH will use these cameras to record and share videos of our Speakers' Bureau presentations, the experiences of Homeless Challenge participants, Living Wage rallies, Homeless Persons' Memorial Day vigils, and our other events and workshops.  The videos will be uploaded to our website and shared to educate and train our supporters and partners across the country!

For each set of two camcorders, we need to raise only $150! We hope to raise enough money to buy three kits (6 cameras). That’s only $450!
