Column: Mentoring program builds bridges, fosters educational achievement

Editor’s note: This is the second in a series of articles about United Way community partner agencies and the impact that United Way dollars have on the community. The Greater Ottawa County United Way Community Campaign launched on September 18, with a goal to raise $2.11 million by early 2009.
When one family moved out of Ottawa County in 1996 because they did not feel welcome here, a group of citizens founded a grassroots organization that blossomed into the multifaceted Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance, based in Holland.
