Steven Samra

Steven is a Veteran’s Services Coordinator with Operation Stand Down Nashville Inc. and also works part-time as a Recovery Specialist for the Center for Social Innovation. He spent 30+ years in and out of homelessness while battling addictions, then entered recovery in 1998. Steven earned his BA and MPA at California State University, Chico over the next several years and has since dedicated his life to serving those who are still on the street. For the past four years, Steven has performed street outreach and currently assists homeless veterans in and around Nashville, Tennessee. He serves on the Board of the Nashville Coalition for the Homeless, co-founded and writes for The Contributor, a street newspaper produced and sold by the homeless, and blogs at Stone Soup Station.

Steven commented on the petition |I do a lot of shopping at Best Buy but I refuse to purchase from a retailer that treats its employees poorly. Give these men and women time with their family or lose my business for a long time to come.

Steven commented on the petition |I do a LOT of shopping at Target but can tell you now that if employees at my local Targets are forced to work these hours, I will never step foot in a Target again. And as for the Star Tribune, you guys are the reason mainstream media is heading rapidly to the dustbin of obsolescence. Outdated, out of touch and ignorant as the day is long.

Steven commented on the petition |I am a graduate with a Master's Degree from a California University and the abuse of power under the color of authority - and subsequent lack of immediate action by Chancellor Katehi to both terminate every office involved and demand criminal charges against each of them for their assault and battery on those students - is disgraceful. She should do the right thing and step down as she is clearly unfit manage the campus or represent the ideals of higher education.
