While I chose to focus for this article on dogs and other pets, it's worth mentioning that leaving babies, the elderly, disabled people and children in parked cars is equally dangerous. Nobody deserves being locked up in the hotbox of a parked car!

It's horrifying how many health care professionals smoke, are obese and otherwise suffering from chronic health problems that are prime contributing factors to the top killers in our nation. It's one more aspect that feeds an attitude of triviality for these vital lifestyle choices. To hear about initiatives that promise to help twist things back to a more realistic angle -- heck, yeah! 'Bout time!
