Lauren Vegter

Lauren Vegter is a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who will spend her summer in Ecuador working on micro-credit issues. Her project is to help a group of women, the Frente Femenino (Women Fighters) start businesses in collaboration with local NGO Children of Guayaquil. Lauren is the founder of MIT International Development Consulting, an organization that allows passionate student teams to assist non-profits in life-changing international development efforts.

Where is the government? The Challenge of Street Children

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your comment. Yes, the government is spending money, but the reality is it is completely inadequate in many places. When I lived in Quito, the education that I saw was pretty good, so I have been overwhelmed by my experiences here. I'll actually be back in Quito this weekend, so maybe we can meet up.
