U.S. Department of Peace: 10th Anniversary Action!

Dear Mr. President and Members of Congress,

After working in Costa Rica and witnessing the success of their newly established Ministry for Justice and Peace, this dream of having a U.S. Department of Peace is now stronger than ever in my own heart.

As a member of the Global Alliance for Ministries and Departments of Peace I know first hand about the powerful movements and campaigns for ministries and departments of peace taking place all around the world. On this 10 year anniversary of the bill calling for a U.S. Department of Peace, I hope you will consider what the benefits could be for our great nation.

With our current international wars, domestic violence and crime costing our nation trillions of dollars, I urge us all to consider what it would be like if we invested our tax dollars on the outcomes that we actually DO want. I imagine that most Americans would say they would chose peace over war, safety over violence, respect over hatred and division.

Our children deserve to grow up without the daily threat of violence and without war being a regular part of American life. Rapid change could occur if we allocated even a fraction of the money we spend on war to education, or improving relations between citizens, or strengthening the impact of those in society already working to insure everyone's basic needs are met.

Having a U.S Department of Peace would be a powerful step and would demonstrate our commitment as ambassadors of peace around the world.

Take a Stand for the United States Institute of Peace

Dear Senator,

Now, more than ever, we need the U.S. Institute of Peace. This credible, professional, research based institution has made significant contributions to peace both domestically and internationally. Senator, I beg you to please see all the benefits of USIP and prioritize peace for the children of our great nation.
