I am the mother of Efrén Paredes, Jr., a 36-year-old Latino who was arrested at the age of 15 and convicted for a murder and robbery he did not commit in 1989. The crime occurred in St. Joseph, Michigan (Berrien County). Efrén was home with our family when the crime was committed. He was a high school honor student at the time with previous criminal history.
Our family has been working diligently to exonerate Efrén of the crime and free him for over 20 years. I recently joined Change.org so that I could begin networking with people of conscience who are committed to ending social injustice in the world.

I urge people to also visit and sign our petition on Change.org to support the release of another juvenile who was sentenced to life without parole for a crime he did not even commit.
