    I agree.
"Lori Drew charged over MySpace suicide - Technology - smh.com.au"

Umm, if it's the internet or not, if you torture someone till they kill themselves, it's really no different than just going and shooting them.

But, as far as the scope of this article goes, I also agree.  The internet laws need to be defined.  Even if it is still just saying, ' the real world consequences still exist, and if you break any laws, over the internet or not, you will be held accountable.  Servers have logs that would honestly scare you if you realized that through a little cooperation could pin point almost anyone.  The security measures we have are sufficent, but I don't think the people have been properly warned about being an ass on the internet.  It's just like being in person.

This woman should be in jail simply for treating a child in such a manner.  This case was brought out, and it's being taken care of.  We have to trust the courts and our juries (people like you and me) to discern the worthwhile cases of pursuing criminal charges.  I understand it's a sensitive balance, but this kind of thing will fall on us to manage.  We will need to protect our good citizens from the extremist websites, and we DO have the government to help us.

What this particular case comes down to though is it sounds like this lady tormented a young girl to the point of suicide.  The internet is simply a tool, responsible use is a must.  It was used as a murder weapon in this case.  That was only the decision of this lady, and she must pay the consequences.  Which are light in my opinion due to the fact this girl is dead.  And who torments little children anyway.  Stick to the constitution, stick to your good values, educate with good values, and this is no concern.

We do need to take time to figure out what types of cooperation we need, and what level of privacy is to be maintaind.  (Basically, warrants will have to be had to pull ip addresses from logs, to communicate with the internet providers to pin point terminals, to pulling video logs of public terminals with exacting times to serch tapes within, and so on.  Yes this needs to be addressed.  No, it's not that big of a hurdle, and it's not near a higher priority.
