That is EXACTLY what the 8th Amendment provides. Thank you for realizing.

Like most people, I guess even chain type stores have vast differences. Some are generous while others are tight (or appear so to some) depending on one's point of view and/or needs. Trader Joes in my area has been extremely generous and would hope set an example to even other businesses.
HOWEVER - I tend to focus on the causes of a given problem rather than place blame or criticism for not being bailed out by those not accountable. FOR EXAMPLE . . .
There is MORE than enough money for schools, healthcare AND public services! They did not initiate the 14 Trillion dollar debt, and consequently should not be short-changed. The apparent excessive spending to facilitate the wars IS responsible, and taxing those in the corporate structures who have been profiting from those wars IS appropriate!
“Entitlements” are benefits commensurate with accomplished job performances. For producing policies (now obviously flawed and inappropriate) and passing selectively restrictive laws that often prohibit growth or potential success being persuaded by corporate influences should therefore share in this economic shortfall being accountable for their own past decisions. The inability to afford their “Entitlements”
IS an appropriate reward for their failed policies.
That is not ironic – it is poetic !!!

First, you struggle to save enough for a down payment to buy, and to acquire affordable payments. If you’re fortunate to be exclusive from lost job security or downsizing, wage decreases, or personal type problems in family like credit, medical, rent or other expense increases doesn't disrupt the financial plans (?), you endeavor to struggle. By moving to a smaller location (temporarily of course) expecting it to cost less, then you’ll probably need to store some of your "stuff” (hopefully somewhat non-essentials) in a min-storage. This common method (attempt) merely becomes the first step in losing your “stuff” - of course, then the upside is - you will have less “stuff” to worry about.
You expect that by exerting yourself for a few months with a second job or put in overtime will reach the goal. This usually enhances stress levels (especially if others in the family are also “pushing the envelope” to help), contributing to frustration and all the other wholesome ingredients that affect the harmony in relationships as we increasingly hear about, (just to make it all worthwhile)!? The national figures show the record breaking results of these ingredients and somehow it is still never quite enough. If your job does downsize (and/or no longer needs your field of expertise – you’ll notice that just "any-kind-of-job" won't maintain even moderate expenses. Particularly when you don't live somewhere, even those jobs become less accessible. Ultimately, as the epiphany is revealed - you are no longer trying to get ahead - it’s even become futile to just try to stay afloat ! Sound familiar yet?? Of course, not everyone is that unfortunate - some have had it - worse !?

NOW that the economy has removed all hope to "END" homelessness for some time to come, the most needed focus to "DECRIMINALIZE" Homelessness AND stop the HATE CRIMES upon ALL disadvantaged "CITIZENS" particularly the VICTIMS of the economic imbalances causing the problem that is now out of control!  http://homelessreality.org/pdfs/fedcrttranscript.pdf  provides excerpts of a FEDERAL COURT RULING of the 8th AMENDMENT VIOLATION to charge homeless citizens with a crime that inherently makes it a crime to be homeless.  At the bottom of that file is a link to the actual Federal Court's complete 54 page transcript that may help cause dismissal of local charges as has so far been successful here in Sonoma County.  My goal has been to encourage those misguided "powers-to-be" to RECIND the law that merely skirts around the abolishment of the former vagrancy laws and am encouraged regardless of how slow as molasses it is for Gov. policies to be motivated.  The advise given by one of the deciding judges explain that the only recourse (AT THIS TIME) may be to APPEAL any convictions (until they see the wisdom in making the "RIGHT" decision)!!
