I am a retired US Army Reserve Colonel and a former US diplomat who resigned in March, 2003 in opposition to the war in Iraq. I was on the small State Department team that reopened the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan in December, 2001. I have returned to Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010. I believe the use of assassination/execution drones that have killed thousands of innocent Afghan and Pakistanis and are used to assassinate even American citizens is dangerous for the United States. The proliferation of drones throughout the world means that others have access to similar technology. It would not be unreasonable to think that retaliation and blowback from the use of these drones may come back on the United States.
