Melissa commented on the article |Great post! I too watched the Real World back when they dealt with real people with real issues. Sorry if I am negative toward the show now, but I had to tune out if I saw another drunk girl/guy getting it on in a hot tub for the umpteenth time.
Pedro was such a pioneer for exposing what it's like for an average Joe to live with HIV. I can still hear his voice educating us on the subject.
Although he passed away years ago, Ryan White will always be remembered by me as being the most influential role model in the HIV community. I can still recall watching his TV story in 7th grade science class 20yrs ago. It was extremely moving to say the least. I hope his life story is taught to our youth today, after all, what better person to relate to than that of another child.
