I'm here to help promote human rights everywhere. I believe that those of us in the United States need to do more to promote the better treatment of others throughout the world. One way this needs to be done by paying attention to the things you buy and refusing to give money to companies that support terrible working conditions.
Currently I work with pro-migrant groups in supporting comprehensive immigration reform in the U.S. which I believe is a very important issue. First and foremost we must stop the raids and detentions.

The guy that runs that site is prolific in the PA anti-migrant scene and often speaks at rallies for Voice of the People USA and other anti-migrant groups.That terrible picture of the man grabbing his crotch is a trophy for anti-Hispanic groups. Of course we know that all responsible people believe one image can represent a whole group of people especially when removed from the context of the situation.
Anyone who's every watched a video of anti-migrants harassing day labor sites (which is where I believe that image originated) would understand how it would lead to angry gestures. -
chris commented on the article |Brilliant post and so very true. I'd like to think that if we're supposed to be the more intelligent beings that we’d have room to change our behavior without destroying our culture.
The truth is most people would not have the stomach to actually slaughter an animal. Not only would they sicken from the site of the blood and gore, but they'd feel pity when the screams were heard. Sadly, when the screams are silenced by distance and saran wrap the association is disconnected.
In regard to culture that argument is used to dehumanize migrants as well as an excuse to continue these barbaric practices. If the caging and slaughter of animals in mass is our culture then our culture needs to be fixed. -

chris commented on the article |Great post. It really blows my mind that so many just don't care. I do think many are willing to admit factory farms are deplorable, but I guess they just can't make that connection, or don't care, as shown in the final quote of the article.
