Nathaniel,
Thanks for 2 years of excellent reading. This blog has always been a go to source for provactive, thoughtful, and well-presented updates and opinion on this evolving field. You and your team do an exceptional job of placing the events, ideas, trend and actors that define social entrepreneurship within a larger context.
While I'm sorry to see this particular channel come to an end, I'm looking forward to following you at Asset Map. Keep up the great work!
Zak
Thanks for posting this Nathaniel. Both inspiring and challenging. Is there video of any of the other speakers anywhere? Would be interested in hearing some of their stories and how they expanded on your theme.
Ryan,
Thanks for the great article. As this field grows from a niche to a robust sector in its own right it is nice to see public discussion of these key issues. Your article brought back a lot of recent memories and struggles from starting an international community development site and wondering not only what we were bringing to the table but what we should be looking for in forming our greatest asset, a committed, capable and enthusiastic local partner.
Building on Saul's comment I would suggest utilizing the Asset Based Community Development approach that NW has been so instrumental in popularizing and asking what strengths your local partner has that you can build on. To me, using volunteers' energy and creativity to build on an organization's assets is often going to be the best way to create a sustainable positive impact which far outlives a volunteers comittment or even the partnership as a whole.
Thanks for tackling this vital question.
