I see your point, Chris. Symbolism is a tough thing to put a price tag on, you're right, and as I said in the post, if $1 billion is really an accurate estimate, "that does sound like an impractical use of resources." Still, I think the administration could have handled it better. Couldn't they have made that estimate much earlier in the process, before their reversal became a story that the media could, as you point out, blow out of proportion?
