  Stop Al-Qaeda From Exploiting Gun Law Loopholes

  While there should be background checks, I'm worried how strict they may become; should anyone happen to attend an anti-war rally, join an Iraq Vets Against the War listserve, etc., will they be excluded? We also need to consider that Adam Gadahn is jewish and not really a likely member of "al qaeda's" Muslim extremist group. An armed citizenry severely stands in the way of true government control, though I do agree it needs to be an informed, safe and intelligent citizenry.

  The major source of weapons used in violent/drug crime on the east coast is Virginia gun shows, so this petition has merit to some extent, so we may slow that crime before Congress finally makes drugs a health issue and not further reason to privatize prisons and profit from caging urban poor.

  All: Don't be bought by everything in mainstream media. Use your head before succumbing to fear (i.e. "bin laden" tape days before 2004 election) but let's be responsible with our societal and constitutional rights as well. Petition on...with caution.
