From what I've always understood, a Crisis Preg. Center's whole objective is to PRESERVE the unplanned pregnancy if somone is in poverty/underage, but has chosen to continue their pregnancy anyway. Oftentimes, they counsel the girl/woman about the option of giving the child up for adoption, finding social services to provide healthcare, etc. Naturally, they wouldn't encourage the abortion option, since they are in business to save lives, not terminate them.
Re: The Baltimore Crisis Preg. Center article- From what I've always seen as the way they are advertised in the phonebook, these Crisis Pregnancy Centers are under the heading "Abortion Alternatives" & in most cases, are sponsored by a Catholic/Evangelical organization. At any rate, seems obvious to me if I WANTED to find a way to keep a crisis pregnancy I couldn't afford, I'd go there 1st. But if I DIDN'T, why would I step foot in that (Center)? This being an issue confuses me.
