“Politicians have two top priorities.  Their number one priority is getting elected, number two is getting re-elected and the needs of "We The People" are a far distant third.”

    Hey Tom,

Don’t forget about the many off shore bank accounts, that has to be right up there with re-election. Recidivism = $Chi-ching = politician. I have your top, front, back, and both sides man. HR1529 to the last breathe.

  • The Clemmons Case and the Blame Game

This is the grand opportunity the politicians were awaiting to arise. Now is the moment for them to make excuses’ on how the second chance won’t work (HR 1529: the bill Support: http://www.secondchancenj.org/#), and mandatory minimums should remain in place. The system is broken, period, point blank, understand! There is no rehabilitation and/or reform in place. A person shouldn’t be allowed to just loiter in prison working out, scheming, laying around, watching Maury; there should be no idled time. As history has revealed a void in time is spent time in the devils work shop. Upon incarceration as soon as you enter a mentor should be assigned, and proper education should be mandated. Especially for those that want to make a career of the revolving door policy. A No Idled Time policy needs to be implemented!  The same as when he/she is released. Programs should be readily available, to continue education, and a paid work release program. A persons self esteem, self motivation, and worthiness, would become ones (prisoners) aspiration. Clemmons obviously had some psyche issues from his childhood. These issues were completely ignored, be it financial (more that likely finance was the cause for the ignorance), or just plain stupidity. The system turned her back to a growing problem, thus innocent people lost their lives. He should have been on strict surveillance; and in a program to help him with his sick obsession for adolescence admiration from the very day he was incarcerated. Repeat heinous crimes and recidivism will continue to increase until a system (other than the so called system that’s in place) is implemented. That’s the Change we need. Once again, verily I say, Big business will continue to line the pockets of the greed filled politicians. With their build more prisons, "This tough-on-crime posturing", and mandatory minimum agenda. Unless we stand together, and make them work its business not personal as usual….
