First of all, this is NOT about me. However, I am fluent in Spanish, German and Romanian. This issue is not about this one incident, even though I believe that the principal was very wrong in this individual case. Americans are very stressed about the current economy and it does seem as though the inability or refusal of hispanic immigrants to learn english is setting them off. As a historian, let me assure you that in Nazi Germany, this was used against the Jews, even though they were native Germans. Also, it does seem as though most of the bloggers on this issue who feel it is alright for hispanic immigrants to NOT learn english are of hispanic decent and unable to look at the larger picture in a objective manner.

I am surprised they did not invite Bill Clinton to their parties.

If I was planning to move to Mexico, the first thing I would do before doing anything else would be to learn Spanish. Perhaps, that is because I have common sense.      I know that it would be impractical to expect an entire country to accommodate me. That being said, it seems as though hispanics either do not have common sense or are extremely arrogant.

My grandparents came to the USA from Romania. They were fluent in English and made every possible effort to assimilate with American culture. I see absolutely nothing wrong in expecting all immigrants to do what they did so effectively through hard work and common sense.

Believe me when I say that I wish only the best for anyone who comes to the USA as an immigrant. It is very hard to leave your home from another country and start over. However, it would be much easier if all immigrants would make a serious effort for learn the language of the country that they have come to libe.
