    Bacha Bazi: Afghan Tradition Expolits Young Boys

    My Afghan friend in the US tell a different story. While not participants, they say since women are not allow to partys with men, they dress teen boys like women and dance with them.  My friends say most of the boys volunteer, due to the high pay, and they also, most of them, volunteer for sexual relations with men to support their families, and for the boys to connect with wealthy, powerful men who later in life, can get them into college and good jobs.  Very, very few are forced into it, and even fewer have long term negative effects.  Some of the young men now are proud of how they helped their impoverished families, and found a way to pay to get to college.  I feel it helps having friend from the area, who are still in contact with their Afghan relatives, who share a much different story.  Is it acceptable to us, in our culture?  No, but we are also not living the life of the poor Afghans.
