Elizabeth commented on the article |I think the lawyer who turned out to be a fake should have paid for what he did. How did this situation turn itself around? I'd be interested. If your father drove the truck illegally, I can only commend his doing so out of need for his family. It's not like he committed illegal acts all his life. This man went to a good school and had a good job. Did your brother ever get diagnosed or get any kind of treatment? How is your father and mother today? They made the most of their situation and I think your story is one of family,survival, and trying to find a way to resolve the burdens you had.

Elizabeth commented on the article |Freedom of religion is carried too far and it's because of santeria and the Jewish kapporot and the September feast of the Theotokis (Virgin Mary) where a lamb's throat is cut and the entire carcass sits out there getting sliced and diced for people lined up to eat it.
I fail to see how religion connects with spirituality and compassion in these instances. It more like behaving like a criminal who doesn't know wrong from right.
I have no respect or regard for religious practices (I guess I'm using the world religion freely) that involve the killing of animals. SPIRITUALITY IS WHAT IS MEANT BY KINDNESS, COMPASSION AND LOVE FOR YOUR FELLOW MAN AND SENTINENT AND INSENTINENT BEINGS ON THIS PLANET.
The definition of Ethics is something you see someone do, and you say to yourself, "THAT IS SOMETHING I NEVER WANT TO DO".

Elizabeth commented on the article |Unfortunately homeless people are made to be a joke by some parents who "work hard", who "don't believe in mental illness", who "got themselves an education", and so on. They believe homeless people are lazy, ignorant, and an embarrassment to the community. So you have two problems - helping the homeless and helping the community to get a better understanding of what causes homelessness outside their own ignorant views, and teaching their children to mind their own business when they see homeless people. There are some homeless that are dangerous, and why they aren't in a facility getting supervision is another issue the community has to deal with. Homelessness is not just an urban problem. The children from suburbia sometimes run away and end up pandhandling on the street and sleeping on park benches. The homeless have rights, but sometimes there is impaired judgement and it may affect their wellbeing. It all goes down to the taxpayers. Do they want to pay for the recovery and rehabilitation of the homeless? Some people don't. Alcoholism is a disease. It is found in the rich and in the poor. It's worse for the homeless. They need so much rehabilitation that the average citizen who pays taxes says "where are their families" "how did they ever get like this". If anyone ever wants to listen, or learn, there are stories and books about individuals who became homeless.
