If you agree that it would be sexual assault if the search was performed by a man, then why wouldn't it be with a female guard? Can't women be sexually abused by other women?

You have no hatred for the man who raped your daughter. Well, why in the world not? My apologies if I sound intolerant and cruel and heartless, but I feel your daughter's rapist is someone you *should* hate. I'm a victim of sexual assault and I certainly hate the perpetrator.

And what you're saying comes dangerously close to rape apology. You claim it's the fault of "the system and the people who failed to run that system professionally and efficiently." I understand I don't know all the details of the case, but I do know this--if there were no rapists, there would be no rape.

I don't know about these vaginal searches. Especially in case where the woman has been sexually assaulted, hiding something in one's vagina wouldn't be the most pleasant thing in the universe. I would imagine that for survivors of rape and other sexual assault putting something up there could be a triggering experience. However, I understand that it's a security concern and there are women who would hide things there. I wonder if there's a less invasive way to do it...X-ray?

Female Genital Mutilation Performed at Cornell University

Jason, I think you definitely have a good point--although female genital mutilation is possibly the greater issue--only because it's more invasive and more dangerous--circumcision certainly also falls under the category of genital mutilation. Definitely something that should get more attention, in my opinion. Thanks for bringing it up!
